Michael Cook, president and CEO of Merchandising Technologies, Inc.
Michael Cook, president and CEO of MTI (Merchandising Technologies, Inc., www.mti-interactive.com), has become a director on the ACG Portland board. In his new role, Cook wishes to expand the influence of an organization that supports the development of local business executives. "ACG is a constant source of valuable take-aways for executives who attend their events," says Cook. "Company presidents and CEOs applying these ideas will see their businesses grow." Cook brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to MTI, a privately held company that has been building interactive merchandising displays for consumer electronics (CE) retailers since 1977. Under his leadership, the company solidified its position as a leading provider of turn-key solutions, and today counts six of the top seven CE retailers as customers. Prior to joining MTI, Cook served as president and CEO of EPC, Inc., a power electronics manufacturing company; executive vice president of Rittal Corporation, an electronics enclosure and packaging solutions provider; and a general manager of Siemens Building Technologies. Cook serves on the board of directors for Silver Eagle Manufacturing and the Lake Oswego Schools Foundation. He has a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University and an MBA from the University of Portland. Cook, with his wife and their four children, settled back in Portland seven years ago after 15 years serving in various corporate executive arrangements in California, Illinois and Ohio. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hunting, tennis and golf. He is also active in his church, local school district and youth sports. From the September 2006 ACG Portland Briefs [PDF] |
